The course is a combination of single track, double track, a small amount of road, and a little cross country running.
There is a lot of elevation change over the course, but it is not relentless. Our events are always hard – the adversity is what makes them so worthwhile!
Checkpoints will be every 5 to 10km apart on the 25km/50km route. You can find out more about aid stations here.
Since it's a late season race, the weather is more unpredictable. If it is too wet, we may have to reroute the course. A lot of the trails are very rooty and uneven. We don't do a whole lot of trail maintenance, except when a trail is not passable, so there can be deadfall and brush. That's just a part of the challenge. :D
If you don’t keep your head up, you will also get lost. There are A LOT of junctions out there, and we try our best to flag everything, but sometimes flagging goes missing due to bystanders playing around with us. You will be in the woods on your own for periods and you need to be self-sufficient.
Our race crew will assist, applaud, and push you along the way. Our volunteers will be a lifeline when you need encouragement, a helping hand, and a friendly face. Our medics will patch you up and push you out the door again.
The reward is something that cannot be described. It comes in this electricity you will feel when you are at the race, and when you accomplish what you are after. That comes from you. You and the trail - that’s it. Now... are you ready?
