What is Virtual Burrito League?
Starting January 12 2026, pick or create a short Strava segment near you, repeat it as many times as you can, and let consistency, not speed, decide the winner!
Challenge Window
January 12, 2026 to 11:59pm MST on January 31, 2026.
How to Compete:
- Create your own straight-line Strava segment that is at least 300 meters long (recommended: 300–400m).
- Paste your Segment URL into the registration form under “Segment Link” at https://www.sinistersports.ca/burritoleague/ (link in Sinister Sports bio).
- Repeat your segment as many times as you want during the challenge window.
- Be sure to head to https://www.sinistersports.ca/burritoleague/ each day to enter your new total number of segments into your profile.
- Then yell: Let’s goooooo burritooooooo!
Rules:
- Route: Each segment should be a point-to-point (no loops) meaning that you only get credit for travel in one direction (returning to the segment start does not count toward your segment completion total).
- Scoring: Runners are credited with each completed segment efforts on their own segment by the deadline. Speed/time for efforts does not matter. Strava tracks this using a "Local Legend" title on your segment, so you only have to focus on running.
- One Segment Only: Participants must use only one segment for the duration of the challenge. You cannot combine multiple segments for an amalgamated total.
- On Foot Only: Run, jog, walk or crawl. No bikes, wheels, or vehicles.
- Same-day Uploads Required: Activities must be uploaded to Strava the day they’re recorded (no “hide now, upload later”. Data dumps = DQ).
- Visibility Required: Your activities must be set to “Everyone” on Strava (otherwise they won’t count toward effort totals).Your segment must remain Public for the full challenge so we can verify totals.
- Segment Standards:
- Minimum length: 300m (recommended 300–400m).
- Repeatable & Safe: Choose a route you can repeat many times without dangerous crossings or restricted access.
- Clear Direction: Strava segments are directional, your reps must be run in the same direction as your segment, the return trip does not count.
